Intern or volunteer in the Montenegro Dolphin Research (MDR), conducted in partnership with the Marine Mammals Research Association. This is the first long-term study of marine mammals in Montenegrin coastal waters. We aim to address questions about marine mammal abundance, distribution, and behavior as well as define critical habitats and investigate the impacts of major threats, ranging from tourism to seismic practices. Our wider attention focuses on promoting and implementing awareness initiatives targeted at the local community. This program is open to interns and volunteers. Joining our team allows individuals to gain both scientific and outreach skills they can practice in marine mammal research.

Life changing
by: j s - United KingdomProgram: Montenegro Dolphin ResearchI had the best time, making friends, future contacts and memories to last a lifetime! As well as being able to have the best time i really got to improve myself as a scientist and get hands on experience in the life of a true marine biologist. I could not recommend this enough to people who want to experience real life science and not just the fun stuff. I got to work whilst feeling like i was making a difference. The location couldn't be better with lots of opportunities to explore the country...
An intern opportunity I won't forget
by: nina fulep - NetherlandsProgram: Montenegro Dolphin ResearchDMAD has taught me invaluable lessons about behavioral research. I spent my 4 month internship in a house shared with 6 others and it was honestly one of the most fun experiences in my life. The main researcher gives great advice and I've noticed my scientific writing has definitely increased in quality since my time there. The amenities are fine and transportation is taken care of.
