Deciding to intern in Ghana as a midwife will put you on our only split program. You will rotate between pre and postnatal care, assisting with births, cesarean sections, and an array of birthing complications. As a developing country with a specific set of environmental and social predicaments, you’ll find that breech births and surgical intervention are far more common here. The same can be said of the lack of prenatal care. We also organize an optional placement in a small, coastal village where you’ll live and work with the local community while immersing yourself in rural Ghanaian culture.
