Immigrant and Refugee Socio-Economic Integration

The socio-political crisis in Nicaragua that began in 2018 has forced thousands of Nicaraguans to seek asylum in neighboring Costa Rica. Thus, we have opportunities for internships and short-term academic experiential learning programs that support immigrant and refugee integration. Placements are available in the following areas: Business – Many immigrants have started small and informal businesses and request mentoring and assistance in creating business models, SWAT analysis, digital marketing, and basic accounting. Health – Workshops, as well as online and printed materials, made by international students who work with Costa Ricans and Nicaraguans improve health system literacy, access, and health outcomes for migrants.
