With an extensive indigenous history and diverse peoples, it is the ideal location to improve your Spanish language skills and participate in a 6-week internship or research project. Placements are available within a three-hour radius of the capital, Quito. Few countries as small as Ecuador contain such remarkable geographic and biological diversity. Geographically, it ranges from coastal deserts to temperate mountain valleys to Amazon forests. Culturally and racially, its population includes indigenous, Spanish, and African elements. The program is based in Quito, an Andean city with a remarkable combination of colonial and modern, rich and poor.
Program Highlights
Cultivate awareness and appreciation for critical global issues through engagement with local communities.
Gain cross-cultural competencies through extended engagement at a local grassroots organization.
Live with a homestay family in Ecuador, with daily breakfast and dinner provided.
Take 16 credits for fall or spring semester, followed by a six-week internship or research project.
Take additional 4 credits for optional language pre-session.
