Dreamlike Experience Abroad
by: Madison Smith - United StatesProgram: TEAN - Australia - University of New South Wales, SydneyI studied at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia under the TEAN program. Academics were rigorous and stimulating at UNSW, but I appreciated taking only 3 classes per term since it allowed me more time to explore Sydney and Australia as a whole. Lab and seminar/discussion-based classes were the best way to make local friends! TEAN staff were amazing! They were extremely helpful and so sweet. I hung out with and really got to know my TEAN RD on a personal level while also knowin...
An eye-opening abroad experience with TEAN!
by: Ogechi Muruako - United StatesProgram: TEAN - South Korea - Korea University Summer ProgramParticipating in the Korea University Summer Program was one of the best life decisions I've ever made. For one, this experience made more independent and self-confident. Stepping out of my comfort zone to try new things and navigate through many obstacles such as language barriers and culture shocks allowed me to grow proud of myself and be more confident that I can accomplish more in my future travel journeys. The cultural activities hosted both by TEAN and Korea University made the trip even ...
Awesome Semester!
by: Nele Heide - GermanyProgram: TEAN - Singapore - Singapore Management UniversityI think Singapore was perfect as a study abroad location. I always felt safe and everyone speaks English, which makes conversations and meeting people easier. I also got the chance to travel a lot in south east Asia which was awesome. Our local advisor was great, he was always there if we needed something or had any questions. The housing location was great, only 5 minutes from University! Everything was reachable via trains. I had great roommates, the team events were fun, but could have been m...

What inspired you to travel abroad?
Honestly, the thought of living abroad had never even crossed my mind until I studied abroad. While I was at Bond University with TEAN, I also completed an internship with their International Admissions Office. My supervisor Kelsey (who would later work for TEAN too) was an American who studied abroad and then moved to Australia. Meeting her helped plant the idea (perhaps on a subconscious level) that I could make that move too. It wasn’t until I returned that I realized what an impact that experience had on me and that I wanted to return to Australia.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
I was a big old nerd. Not only did I elect to take Latin as my foreign language, I was very active in my high school’s Latin Club or “Junior Classical League” (for those in the know). When the opportunity arose to tour Italy with my Latin teacher and a group of my peers, I begged and pleaded until my parents let me go. I haven’t stopped exploring since!

What inspired you to travel abroad?
I wish I could say that I chose Germany with some academically critical, highly interesting reason. However, the simple fact of the matter is that my best friend was studying German and she wanted to go on a faculty-led program over the summer, and told me she wanted me to go with her. So, I went. At that point in my life, it was the only way I would have gone abroad, was the perfect first step for me, and led to spending years abroad, traveling all over the place, and getting into this field.
