Thórsmörk Trail Volunteers

Thórsmörk Trail Volunteers offers volunteer opportunities that assist with the maintenance of trails in Thórsmörk and Goðaland and also other conservation projects in the area. Iceland’s Forest service started Thórsmörk Trail Volunteers in 2012 in order to help work on these projects. Although this specific effort has only several years under its belt, it is coming from over 15 years of conservation and maintenance experience throughout protected areas in Iceland. With the belief that local efforts make sustainable change, this project was developed to make sure that the area could be maintained long term.
