What can I do in my free time?

There are plenty of things to do in Fort Portal, the center of tourism and attractions. The city features cultural sites, the youngest king, cultural tombs, palaces, forests, and game parks. Kibaale, Semuliki, and Queen Elizabeth national parks are all in the Rwenzori region. We have good and loving people, plus amazing local food, cultural dances, and drama performances.

PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) is passionate about the adolescents and youth of Uganda. We are seeking generous, passionate doctors and nurses to volunteer in this Sexual Reproductive Health Rights Education Project in Uganda. We also welcome interns seeking practical experience in the medical field. PLANE initiated this program after realizing that many children were dropping out of school, some teens were forced into marriages by their parents and relatives, and many teenage girls got pregnant. Most Ugandan youth, especially girls, are not aware of their rights. They tend to keep quiet when married off or forced into sexual acts. Program Highlights

Work with the PLANE team in organizing youth conferences at local schools and communities.

Conduct sex and reproductive health education in schools and communities to raise awareness of abstinence, family planning, and HIV prevention.

Organize outreach campaigns, which include HIV tests and cervical cancer screening (among others) in schools and communities.

Plan and organize fundraising drives in your home country after the program.

Work on activity reports and, sometimes, take photos and capture videos for documentaries.
