Volunteers on the Sports Education project will work in the same schools as the Teaching and Kindergarten projects, in rural villages outside of Nausori. Sports and fitness are incredibly important to the youth of Fiji, especially rugby. They should expect to work with enthusiastic children and young adults, ages ranging from 6 to 16 years of age. Volunteers on the Sports Education project will generally work from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm during the school week (Monday to Friday), using their mornings to develop their lesson plans with the help of a local sports coach. An eye-opening experience of joy and gratitude

Being greeted with big hugs and smiling faces every time we turned up or left the placement location was one of my favourite things. Realising the conditions and lifestyle that the locals lived in, and making me see how lucky I was with what I have made the biggest impact on me. My advice for future volunteers is that everyone is super friendly and the volunteer work is so rewarding! I am so grateful for this opportunity and I am going to miss the children from the kinder and the locals playing sport.
