Given China’s one-child policy and the value Chinese society places on male babies, the country has seen a significant increase in the rate of child abandonment. Plus, many parents in China cannot afford special education or focused care for their children with physical or mental disabilities. Volunteers on this project work with children between the ages of 0 and 19 years. Childcare/Special Needs volunteers assist with a wide range of tasks, including administration, cleaning, feeding, caring for children, teaching, assisting with homework and arranging activities, such as painting, singing, and sports activities. It's been a humbling experience

I'm looking forward to returning. Go with no expectations and you will be enriched. We embarked on the journey thinking we will teach them something but at the end of the day, I believed I received more. Expect minimal material comfort and leave the cosmopolitan and developed country mindset behind and you will enjoy it.

That was not something I expected and I really loved the moment at the end of the volunteering project when they started reciting it together. That was great!
