Hoja Nueva is the place to intern! The co-directors are beyond knowledgeable and friendly, and there are so many different amazing things they are doing that interns get to be apart of! So thankful for my time in the jungle!

I enjoyed working directly with the founder, Sam. I developed wonderful relationships with all of the people who worked here and learned so much. Helped with enrichment for re-wilding while also learning about the research that structures their center.

My initial experience with Hoja Nueva began stateside, working on jaguar identification via camera trap photos collected at Hoja Nueva. I was then fortunate to participate in a high school trip for a couple of weeks at Hoja Nueva. My experience there was so amazing that I had to return as an intern. The region of Las Piedras, where Hoja Nueva is located, is perfect for wildlife research and conservation. I fell in love with experiencing the true heart of the Amazon and its conservation efforts. ...

I spent the majority of the four years of my undergraduate Zoology degree learning about animals through lectures and books. I knew that as soon as I graduated I wanted to travel to see and learn about wildlife first-hand.
