Join this unique wildlife conservation program in the spectacular desert landscape of the Arava, Israel and help to re-populate the nature reserve with the species of animals mentioned in the Bible! Located in the Arava valley, the mission of Wildlife Reserve is to establish reproduction groups for populations of wild animals that are mentioned in the Bible; but have disappeared from the landscape, as well as for other endangered desert animals. The reserve is dotted with Acacia trees and includes a variety of desert habitats: an Acacia forest, a salt marsh, and sand dunes. The reserve has three parts: a three-acre penned-in open area, where herds of herbivorous animals live in conditions similar to those in the wild; the Predators Centre, where reptiles, small desert animals, and larg...

Great volunteer experience in Israel
by: Jenny M - United KingdomProgram: Israel - Desert Wildlife ProgramI had an amazing time volunteering with wildlife in Israel. It's a completely unique environment and the staff running the project were very friendly and welcoming. The work was never boring and the animals are very well cared for (as are the volunteers). It was a very comfortable, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and the staff made sure we got to experience life outside of the project as well. I'd recommend it to anyone, not only for the volunteer work but also as an opportunity to see Israel a...
GoEco team was very responsive and easy to communicate with
by: Mari VinsonProgram: Israel - Desert Wildlife ProgramEveryone on the GoEco team was very responsive and easy to communicate with. From start to finish, this group was very helpful, as well as the other workers within the shelter. I would definitely do another program if the opportunity presents itself.
My volunteer experience at the desert wildlife program
by: Elli Lavon - United StatesProgram: Israel - Desert Wildlife ProgramI had such an incredible time working at the Desert Wildlife Program in the desert of Israel this past summer, and I would absolutely go back to volunteer again. This volunteer program is really unique because it gave me the opportunity to be exposed to extremely exotic animals and aid in their recovery, or general housekeeping of their environments. You can tell that these animals are deeply cared for and this is reflected in the way the rangers and other volunteers interact with the animal...

I was inspired to volunteer because I believe human beings are born to travel, experience all kind of things, embrace challenges, and of course enjoy the moments. On a more personal level, volunteering abroad could help me grow as a person and fulfill my wish to experience a different culture and broaden my own horizon. I also believe this is something you need to do at least once in a lifetime if you are given the chance; it will be inspiring, manifesting, and even life-changing.
