Volunteer Programs in Nosy Be, Madagascar

During the first week of orientation, you had the option to volunteer with special needs girls which was such an eye opening experience. The ability to connect with people from a completely different culture and with language difference is surreal. You may be hesitant due to language differences but the local team speak English and the girls with special needs are grateful to have you around and find other ways of communication

From the start to the conclusion everything went great. The teaching was fun (it was still work) and the kids were the BEST, ever. Had to get use to the hot weather but we had a pool and a beautiful ocean to take those wonderful sunrise walks along the beach. The local team was the best and the IVHQ didn't leave out anything, they prepare you well and provide tips you might not have thought about yourself. I only wish it wasn't 22 hours of fights, of course if it was closer I might be on my way back now. To someone thinking about doing this, yes you might not have all the comforts of home but you'll never be the same again and I say that in a GOOD way. P.S. be ready to make some new friends.
