Travel to Cusco is one of our highlight excursions that provides a contrast to Lima and allows us to explore and contemplate the majesty of Machu Picchu, the ancient citadel city of the Inca. Other easily accessible areas of exploration for the program are Paracas and the Ballestas Islands as well as Huacachina and the desert sand dunes. Through partnerships with top universities in Lima a variety of academic topics can be explored and studied. You will take Advanced Spanish and Argentine Culture, which are designed exclusively for the students of IFSA. You will also choose from optional academic concentrations based on your major area of study or interest - Human Rights: Genocide; Literature in Argentina; Cinema in Argentina; Directed Research; Human Rights: Diversity, Minority, and Gender Studies; and Intensive Spanish (for students with four semesters of Spanish). These offer courses in both English and Spanish, and students may opt to take the three courses required to obtain these certificates in English, Spanish, or a mixture of both. All courses take a comparative approach to ensure a critical understanding of the issues studied.
