SIT Study Abroad: Czech Republic: Human Rights & Refugees

On the Czech Republic: Human Rights and Refugee Integration program, engage with the cultural politics and economics of refugee integration and the ethical limits of the “business of help.” Investigate how refugees subvert the technologies that govern transnational mobility and interrogate the dominant narratives of the nation. Through site visits to refugee resettlement organizations and homestays in communities with refugee populations, learn about the importance of cultural and educational engagement for refugee integration. Reflect on potential solutions for the challenges facing asylum seekers and the communities that support them. Excursions to Poland and Germany provide an opportunity to carry out a comparative analysis of how national political movements and refugee policies have affected the flow of refugees across Europe.

API: Experience Krakow, Poland (Scholarships Available)

For centuries, Poland has been a bridge between the East and West. Poland is a multifaceted country where the capital and medieval towns are trawled by contemporary city slickers, and horse-drawn carts negotiate country lanes, untouched by progress. Poland remains safe and reasonably inexpensive, with hospitable people who welcome visitors. Over the past decade, it has developed into a modern, vibrant, and progressive state, yet, at the same time, it maintains its traditional culture. A fascinating destination, we encourage you to explore this lovely country and see why our former students describe our program as “life-changing” and “a one-of-a-kind experience to remember”!

Medical Uni of Bialystok, Poland

At first I wasn’t sure which country to pursue medicine in. I later found out about universities in Poland just before the deadlines. Medlink students guided and supported me through the whole process so even though I had a visa delay the university still accepted me. Now I’m starting my classes at the Medical University of Bialystok and I’m enjoying them. The university has been really helpful in arranging the lab classes I missed. Overall I wouldn’t worry too much about studying abroad because if you need help you can always reach out to Medlink students even during your medical studies.
