Maximo Nivel offers university programs year round including Fall Semester, Winter Session (J-term), Spring Semester, and Summer Session. University students can study part-time or full-time. University credit is awarded by California State University-Monterey Bay and/or our local university partners in each country. We work directly with faculty-led groups, as well as independent student groups, and Alternative Spring Break programs.

Spend a semester or academic year in the charismatic, sophisticated city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, with AIFS Abroad! You’ll earn up to 22 credits through either a Latin America Studies Program, an Immersion Program, or a Certificate in Latin America Studies Program at the University of Belgrano. Courses are taught in English and Spanish. You can opt to take a 4-week Intensive Spanish Language course before the start of the semester to help you get a head start in adjusting to the new language and culture and to prepare for the placement exam for the semester. Volunteering in Buenos Aires will add a new perspective to your study abroad experience as you give back to the local community. You’ll also enjoy cultural and social activities such as guided tours of Buenos Aires and the La Boca neighborhood, a tango night at a milonga, and a visit to a soccer stadium. A day trip to Colonia del Sacramento, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Uruguay, is included. Optional excursions include a 3-day trip to the famous Iguazu Falls and a day trip to a traditional Argentinean gaucho ranch.

For more than 50 years, Semester at Sea has redefined study abroad by offering a dynamic, multi-country learning experience. Your Communications, New Media + Journalism English program in Seville lasts a full semester and is designed for students interested in communication and journalism. This program is perfect for students with intermediate-level or higher Spanish skills who seek an authentic and immersive experience. Away from the crowds of American students who opt for more popular destinations, like Barcelona or Madrid, with us, you will find yourself fully immersed in the Spanish language and culture of La Coruña, Spain. At the beginning of the semester, you can optionally take an intensive Spanish language course to help prepare you for the semester abroad. You can take classes in your field of interest at an accredited public Spanish university. Most classes are taught in Spanish alongside Spanish students. While some courses are offered in English, we highly recommend taking on the challenge of studying in Spanish. If you need additional Spanish practice before the semester starts, you may combine our Summer Spanish Immersion program with the semester or year abroad program. You will be issued an official transcript, and we can assist you with obtaining transfer credit at your home institution. Discover Francophone West Africa in the capital city of Senegal. Dakar is the westernmost point in mainland Africa and is home to numerous businesses, regional banks, NGOs, and a vibrant arts scene. APA's Dakar Summer Program is available for six weeks. All students choose two courses taught in French. Subjects include developmental economics, oral and written African literature, contemporary West African art, and more. A three-day orientation upon arrival and ongoing academic and language support are available. ISDSI’s semester is a rich, hands-on learning experience exploring Thailand's diverse cultures and landscapes, learning directly from the people involved in creating a more sustainable world. Based in Chiang Mai, ISDSI semester students spend significant time immersed in Thailand's cultures and ecosystems. Our unique Expedition Field Courses involve traveling and studying throughout Thailand, from remote mountain villages in the North to the islands in the South. Students engage in hands-on learning, with assignments ranging from skin-diving coral reefs to organic farming in a rural village. They live with local families, hike, sea kayak, and travel through the landscapes they study during expeditions. During each block, students also complete an independent research project. Strong partnerships with local communities are key to the success of ISDSI courses. We work with them to help tell their stories.
