The Middlebury program in Beijing is designed to ensure that students immerse themselves in an environment that rapidly develops their Chinese language and culture. Program participants take their courses in Chinese, including a one-on-one tutorial and content-based electives. They get to practice their language skills with fellow students and Chinese roommates in relaxed settings outside the classroom. The Middlebury School in China works with CET Academic Programs to offer cultural and linguistic immersion through a rigorous curriculum and adherence to the Middlebury Language Pledge. By promising to speak only Mandarin Chinese while in China, students have the best chance of acquiring fluency and actively engaging in the local environment.
