Psychology Study Abroad Programs in Austria

Spend a semester or academic year in the charming, peaceful city of Salzburg, Austria, with AIFS Abroad! You’ll earn up to 15 credits per semester through a variety of courses offered by Fairfield University. Courses are taught in English and German, with no previous German language study required. Salzburg is the ideal location for students who love the outdoors, with its easy access to mountains, meadows, and lakes of the Austrian Alps. Live in a university residence hall or an Austrian homestay. All students live in a single or double room shared with another AIFS Abroad student and have access to the kitchen for meal prep. You’ll enjoy cultural and social activities including: • Guided tours of the city and its many sites • A Mozart dinner concert • Horse-drawn sleigh rides • Visits to Austrian Christmas Markets • Austrian cooking classes • Tours of the Werfen Castle and Hellbrunn Palace • A 3-day trip to Vienna and a day trip to Innsbruck Optional excursions include a 3-day trip to Prague, Czech Republic, and a day trip to Munich, Germany. A 2-night tour of London, England is included for students on the AIFS Abroad Flight Package.

Vienna isn't only IES Abroad's home (our first program started in Vienna in 1950!), it's home to some of the most prominent psychology thinkers —Alfred Adler, Max Wertheimer, Helene Deutsch, Erwin Ringel, Viktor Frankl (who taught at IES Abroad), and, of course, Sigmund Freud. The University of New Orleans, Division of International Education, organizes the International Summer School in Innsbruck, Austria, for 250 American college or university students and faculty. The summer school is a six-week program wherein participants earn credit hours in Anthropology, Business, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Economics, English, Finance, Fine Arts, Film, Theater and Communication Arts, German, History, Humanities, Italian, Management, Marketing, Music, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology from the University of New Orleans.
