When placed in Kandy, participants in Work the World's Nursing internships in Sri Lanka will grapple with a breadth of different departments across partner hospitals, interacting with specialists and taking in their impressive depth of knowledge. Diseases the participants are unlikely to have encountered before are commonplace in Sri Lanka, so they should expect to see advanced health complaints like dengue fever, tuberculosis, and malnutrition.

On top of these, interns will learn the ancient practice of Ayurvedic medicine from a master while staying in a remote village. After spending their mornings working with blends of spices, oils, barks, and leaves, they will be taken through the jungle by a local guide on an ox-driven cart.

There are also plenty of opportunities to explore the town of Kandy itself, visit the nearby elephant orphanage, or peruse awe-inspiring Buddhist temples.
