The most incredible experience ever!

I am 21 from England, and having just graduated university I was looking for something to bridge the gap between finishing and starting my career. I wanted to do something which would be making a difference and allow me to give back, while experiencing something new and out of my comfort zone. I came across Antelope Park and was immediately amazed at what the projects entailed. I decided to come as a volunteer with my mum in August and it was the best decision ever. From the moment I got there w...

My name is Meghan and I am 19. I decided to take a trip to Zimbabwe in my gap year and it was absolutely incredible. My flights all got messed up but everyone at antelope park was very accommodating in rearranging my transportation and getting me situated even though I got there very late. The whole experience was absolutely amazing. The other volunteers were so kind and helpful and I seriously wish I had stayed longer. I only was there for 2 weeks but it was the best two weeks ever. From riding...

The best volunteer experience you will ever have!

by: Phoebe Lenehan - AustraliaProgram: Volunteer with Horses, Antelope Park

I had such an amazing time at Antelope Park! I love how we were able to combine the working horse holiday with other volunteer programs such as community and wildlife. We had the opportunity to rescue some baby elephants from Hwange national park. I had a wonderful time camping and seeing so much wildlife while also learning more about the endangered species. The food was exceptional and I could not recommend this volunteer working holiday more.

What inspired you to travel abroad?

I had the pleasure of working with Wildlife Encounter in Victoria Falls. I was the General Manager there. My duties included being involved in the day-to-day running and overseeing of the volunteer projects. Due to personal reasons I had to relocate from Victoria Falls. At the time it was hard to think that I couldn’t be involved with the great work being done by the volunteers and teams on the ground. However, I was then given the incredible opportunity to become part of the Volunteer Encounter team.

I previously volunteered in schools in Ghana and India though GirlGuiding Uk in 2017 and 2018 which really created my love of traveling. I loved volunteering but wanted to do something completely different for my gap year from working. Luckily I found the perfect project at Antelope Park, Zimbabwe.

What inspired you to travel abroad?

I moved back to the UK and stopped working in international travel for a brief period. An opportunity came up to work part-time with Volunteer Encounter which keeps me connected to the continent of Africa, my biggest passion.
