I had the time of my life!
by: Kyla Currie - United StatesProgram: Physical Therapy Shadowing in Costa RicaToucan Abroad was AMAZING!! I met so many new people from around the world. I had no clue I’d meet my best friends in such a short amount of time. This was my first time traveling internationally by myself. It’s safe to say that I felt so comfortable and safe the whole time. Everyone in Costa Rica is so nice. The program leaders did everything they could to make the most of the 3 short weeks we had. They knew where to go to dinner and where not to go. They were willing to help with finding excur...
The best abroad Physical Therapy shadowing experience ever!
by: Alex Wrobleski - United StatesProgram: Physical Therapy Shadowing in Puerto Vallarta, MexicoMy study abroad experience with Toucan Abroad was one of the best of my life. It was the perfect blend of learning and fun while being in Mexico! Each clinic I visited was filled with the kindest staff and patients they were all welcoming and really wanted to help us learn about Physical Therapy. Having the ability to care and get to know the patients in such a short time while also being able to help them was something I will cherish. Despite being in each clinic for four days, I feel like I le...
Best Three Weeks Abroad
by: Hope Britt - United StatesProgram: Physical Therapy Shadowing in Costa RicaToucan Abroad is the perfect mix of education and adventure. Throughout the time that I spent in Costa Rica I practiced at three different Physical Therapy Clinics, each one with its own specialization. Each clinic offers a variety of hands-on practice with both manual therapy and equipment. There is opportunity to work in all areas of Physical Therapy ranging from geriatric, athletic, pediatric, special needs, and more. After a full week of shadowing, there is still time to see what else the be...

I wanted to go abroad to be able to explore Latin America while also learning more in physical therapy studies. I really wanted to travel abroad to learn more about the latin culture and fully immerse myself in the culture while also gaining a more holistic view of my profession. Lastly, I wanted to push myself to go outside of my comfort zone and really take this opportunity to learn more about myself and grow as a person.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
As a student, I had the opportunity to travel and learn how different some things outside of my country were done. I want to help people get out of their comfort zones so they can explore different cultures and meet new people. Also, I want to show them all the nice things Costa Rica has to offer to the world.
