Previous ticket checkers in ski resorts scan tickets for 8 hours daily, which can be particularly challenging in the cold weather. This is a separate role from lift operators but shares a similar task nonetheless—standing outside in the cold throughout the day, without physical exertion to keep them warm. 

This position is often one of the hardest for ski resorts to fill, as many people quit during the peak season. Fortunately, many resorts are now replacing manual ticket scanners with automated gates for lift passes. This means working as a ski lift operator isn't as challenging as it used to be.
