Spend your summer in Siracusa, Sicily, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Study topics significant to contemporary Sicily include human rights and migration, international law, and marine biology and ecology. Known for its unique blend of cultures, Sicily is a fascinating place to spend your summer. With historical influences from the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and many more, it is a location unlike any other. Immerse yourself in the culture by researching with a local human rights organization. This program integrates excursions to areas around Sicily, bringing course content to life. Summer in Sicily is open to students in their sophomore, junior, and senior years with a GPA of 2.5.
Program Highlights
Live with 4–8 students from the program and stay in furnished apartments with shared bedrooms.
Take academic-focused excursions (included in the cost) around the island of Sicily to places like Mount Etna, Catania, Taormina, the Baroque city of Noto, or Greek amphitheaters.
Take 6–8 credits in the summer session.
Choose from courses including Survival Italian; Migration, Human Rights, & the Media; International Human Rights Law; Research in Sicily; Mediterranean Conflict; and Marine & Coastal Ecology.
Travel to Italy mid-May and return mid-July.
