Pura Vida is a 14-day Costa Rican middle school program combining adventure and service. The program takes participants to the Southern Pacific coast to explore the world of permaculture at an environmental sanctuary, and then on to a rural community to help maintain the local schoolhouse. Some of the activities engaged in by participants are assisting the community in various outreach projects and helping protect the dwindling population of endangered wildlife while enjoying the natural beauty and wonder of Costa Rica. During their free time, students can have fun in adventure activities, such as whitewater rafting and zip-lining through the rainforest.
Program Highlights
Zip-line through the La Fortuna Rainforest Canopy.
Explore Puerto Viejo, La Marta Wildlife Refuge, Cahuita National Park, Indigenous Bribri Chocolate Farm, and Caño Negro River Tour.
Immerse yourself in the culture of the Bribri indigenous community and Turrialba Valley.
Hike Cahuita National Park and see breathtaking sights.
Receive a Certificate of Community Service indicating the total number of hours worked and a Presidential Volunteer Service Award upon successful completion of the program.
