Join the Iceland Forest Service in this unique program! It is an ideal opportunity if you have experience in hill walking and camping, if you are ready for a challenge, and if you enjoy wilderness landscapes.

Work with a team of volunteers and assist with the management of a hiking trail network in Thórsmörk during summer. Due to the strenuous nature of our work in remote locations, you must be physically fit and ready to do a lot of hiking! Plus, you have to be well prepared with quality, waterproof tents and warm clothing, considering the notorious and constantly changing weather of Iceland.

You will organize and pay for your own travel to and from the meeting point in Thórsmörk. You will also be responsible for organizing your own travel insurance. Upon joining the program, you will be provided with food and campsites. 

Our international volunteer teams make up individuals from around the globe, and the program’s working language is English. No previous experience of trail construction work is necessary, as practical training will be provided. Participants must be 20+ years of age. There is no participation fee.
