Join the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) in Cape Town, South Africa, for a hands-on internship in seabird rehabilitation. This 3 or 6-month program offers an immersive experience in rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing endangered seabirds, such as the African penguin, cormorants, and gannets. Interns will gain practical skills and contribute significantly to SANCCOB’s mission of reversing seabird population declines.

Responsibilities
Catching, handling, feeding, hydrating, and medicating various seabird species.
Ensuring high standards of cleanliness in the rehabilitation center.
Overseeing the intensive care unit, bird pens, and other volunteers.
Maintaining accurate records for individual birds.

Skills Developed
Hands-on seabird rehabilitation techniques.
Understanding and implementing hygiene protocols.
