Saddleback College was founded in 1968 as one of the initial campuses of the South Orange County Community College District. It is named after nearby Saddleback Mountain. They offer a wide range of academic programs, including associate degrees, transfer programs, career and technical education, and workforce development courses. The college provides opportunities for students to pursue various fields of study and transfer to four-year universities. The campus features modern facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, computer centers, athletic facilities, and performing arts venues. These resources provide students with access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to enhance their learning experience.

The Summer 2024 study abroad program is a 14-day trip to Costa Rica that includes hiking, zip-lining, whitewater rafting, "sky walk" canopy tours, boat tours, and visits to different national parks. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the country's rich biodiversity and ecosystems firsthand. The natural environment serves as a classroom for learning about Costa Rica's natural history, ecology, and evolutionary history.
