On this middle school summer trip, travel along the winding coast of Iceland’s Westfjords between towering plateaus and the sea as you explore small fishing villages in this remote region of the country. Visit the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and hike below the Snaefellsjokull Glacier, home to Jules Verne’s imagined gateway to the center of the earth. Explore Iceland’s rich folklore tradition through the lens of the Viking sagas and contemporary beliefs in huldufólk, or hidden people. Learn about the connections between Icelanders and their landscape, witness geothermal energy powering cities, and learn about the impacts of climate change.

We stay in comfortable family-run guesthouses, hostels, and small hotels throughout our time in Iceland. Leaders reside together with the students throughout the program.
