This exciting program offers internships for participants currently studying medicine. Placements are available in several notable private and public full-service hospitals in Chiang Mai. 

In all cases, volunteers/interns can work closely with a supervising physician and are paired with a full-time doctor they shadow on daily rounds. Interns are only placed with doctors with an exceptional command of English. They are highly qualified professionals, many of whom have been educated in the US or UK. 

Responsibilities vary according to individual qualifications, experience, and/or comfort level. Participants with a full medical degree often enjoy far more access when administering care and interacting with patients. However, it is important to note that most interns only observe or help with minor tasks. 

Despite careful monitoring of the supervising staff in every aspect of the internship, it’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for medical students considering they would never get the same level of “behind-the-scenes” experience in a Western hospital.
