LTL Language School

I had a great time at LTL in Shanghai! I was in a small class for four hours a day (two other students) and one-on-one lessons for two hours a day. All the teachers had different teaching styles, which really helped me understand the material, and were happy to expand on interesting topics. The organisation of the school was good and my homestay family were amazing. I would definitely come back!

I learnt Chinese at LTL Chengdu for eight weeks and I am still thrilled. What makes this school special are the exceptionally dedicated teachers. My teacher Presli was an absolute stroke of luck: she adapted very quickly to my learning speed, recognised my weaknesses and provided targeted support. Thanks to her support, I passed the HSK 3 exam - and my listening comprehension in particular improved significantly. Her explanations were clear, her English was excellent and her Chinese characters are so beautiful that you want to frame them. LTL Chengdu is much more than just a language school. In addition to the excellent lessons, the school offers a great additional programme: pottery, calligraphy, mahjong or Chinese painting - here you not only learn the language, but also immerse yourself in the culture. It was also particularly nice that the teachers were happy to help with everyday questions. A highlight: Unicorn took us to fantastic restaurants every lunchtime - without her, we often wouldn't have known what to order. Simply marvellous.

The staff, teachers, students (and location) were all great. I believe that people make or break and experience and they really helped elevate my experience in Seoul. You can tell the staff here genuinely care about you as an individual. My favorite part of the experience was that they would take us to lunches and would sometimes also host activities in the afternoon/evening (usually 1/week). My class size was small enough that I got to ask questions and get 1:1 attention from the teacher. Even though other university language classes say they keep their class size small, there are usually over 10 people. I think that would've been too much. My teacher was very attentive, understanding, patient, and fun. She answered all my questions, and I really appreciated her focus on what is useful to know about speaking the language and not just what is "academic" to know about it. My friend is taking language classes at a University, but she says that the pacing is quite fast and people can't necessarily always ask their questions and can fall behind easily. If you are nervous about learning a language, I would definitely recommend LTL.
