Join the team of LAMSA in this volunteer program and help our coaches prepare training sessions, scheduled from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. The soccer field is 5-10 minutes from the house where volunteers stay. You also accompany the team during weekend matches, played against other academies in the area. 

As an assistant to the local coach, you help in training kids. You can implement special methods if you want to. This is a great opportunity to become an integral part of the local community. Immerse yourself full in Ghanaian and Liberian culture while exploring and gaining insight into the daily lives of locals.

LAMSA welcomes volunteers any time of the year. The program includes accommodation, two meals a day, a SIM card, and constant assistance by our friendly team members.

Volunteer Football Coach in Ghana

This teaching program focuses on helping local teachers at Chrida Faith Foundation Academy, a school within a refugee camp. There are about 130 students (all of Liberian origin) but only a few teachers. The school is 5–10 minutes away (by foot) from the volunteer house.

We are in constant contact with the director and she is delighted to be part of this project and welcomes anyone passionate about teaching. Volunteers help in classes and teach different subjects. They also bring the school supplies, which we give them.

LAMSA also collaborates with Harmony Disability Centre, a teaching center for disabled children. Volunteers in this project provide love and attention to the kids and improve their access to resources.

School Teacher at a Liberian Refugee Camp in Ghana

This experience is focused on students and qualified professionals specializing in medicine, nursing, or pharmacy to provide much-needed help at Jikwel Health Centre—a hospital within a refugee camp. They mainly need general practitioners, gynecologists, ophthalmologists, and psychologists. The program is available throughout the year.

Volunteers support the local staff, completing tasks assigned based on experience and knowledge. Patients typically include drug addicts, illiterate and poor people, teen moms, pregnant women, and those with sickle cell anemia. 

The most common diseases are malaria, typhoid fever, HIV, cellulitis, anemia, sickle cell disease, hypertension, diabetes, and gastroenteritis. The most common injuries are assaults and car accidents.
