The Faculty of Humanities at the University of Cape Town (UCT) is a large and diverse academic unit focused on exploring various dimensions of the human condition.Students are trained to develop key skills such as imagination, insight, and analytical abilities, preparing them for careers in various sectors including public, private, media, NGOs, and academia.

Semester study abroad students can choose from a wide range of courses offered by five faculties. Select up to four semester courses at undergraduate (Bachelors) level or two to three semester courses at postgraduate (Masters) level for a full semester’ credit load.

The School of Languages and Literatures (SLL) at UCT was established in 2002 by merging two departments and offers comprehensive programs in languages and literatures other than English. It encompasses studies in a range of languages from Afrikaans to Xhosa, and includes the Centre for Creative Writing. The school maintains robust international collaborations with universities across Africa and beyond, enhancing its global engagement and academic opportunities.
