Engage in volunteer teaching in Zanzibar, in an area close to the beautiful coast. As a volunteer, you get the chance to experience this magical island archipelago where people still live the traditional way and time seems to stand still. Stone Town is a labyrinth of alleys and walkways, which take you back centuries. 

The placement is in primary schools that provide education to more than 2,000 children. The lack of schools in Zanzibar means dividing a day into morning and afternoon sessions. Students from 6 – 18 years old take their lessons in open classrooms with barely enough benches or chairs. Facilities are basic and the number of pupils is big. Teaching Maths and English is a challenge, with the local teachers not capable of speaking the language fluently.

With these schools in dire circumstances, extra help from volunteers is much needed. Join this project and make a lasting, positive change by supporting a school and its principal through English teaching.
