This intensive and interactive study abroad program explores Guatemalan agriculture, food concerns, and environmental health. It encompasses coursework, expert lectures, service projects, and site visits. Students critically examine the social, political, and cultural impact of food production on the environment, animals, and people.

•	Applications of Mayan Cosmology
•	Introduction to COSA 
•	Advocacy Research

Service opportunities may include:
•	Organic and permaculture farm nonprofits
•	Women's traditional agriculture cooperative
•	Indigenous seed saving
•	Food security & food justice non-profits
•	Medical clinics serving primarily indigenous Mayan populations
•	Nutrition education
•	Maternal and baby health
•	Youth environmental conservation education

Students stay in dorm-style accommodations at IPSL’s partner Permaculture Institute or homestays in a nearby village.

IPSL accepts AmeriCorps Segal Education awards. Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) is available for eligible participants.
