August 24, 2025by: Muhammad El-Yaseen Sunusi - NigeriaProgram: Internships in the USA - J-1 Visa Sponsorship AvailableAs a youth leader passionate about Quality Education (SDG 4), I have actively worked to create inclusive learning opportunities in my community. I organize community study groups and skill-building workshops, especially for girls and marginalized youth, to bridge educational gaps. By collaborating with local schools and NGOs, we provide mentorship and access to learning materials, fostering a supportive environment that empowers young people to reach their potential. Moving forward, I plan to launch digital literacy programs to equip youths with critical skills for the future workforce, ensuring no one is left behind in our fast-changing world. Through these efforts, I aim to inspire sustainable growth by nurturing informed, confident young leaders who will drive positive change in Kano and beyond.

As a child, I traveled a bit with my family from living in The Netherlands to visiting family in Greece. As I got older, I loved it more and more and during my junior year of college I studied abroad in Florence, Italy where the travel bug really bit me. I traveled quite a bit and after my semester ended I extended my stay and traveled for three weeks. After graduating, I took a solo trip to Australia for a month, had a wonderful experience and fell in love with solo traveling. Upon returning home I couldn't shake the feeling that I wanted to spend more time abroad so I worked a few part-time jobs, lived at home, saved my money and decided to be an Au Pair in Madrid, Spain. I wanted to live abroad for a little and work so that I could integrate myself in the community and lifestyle.

What inspired you to travel abroad?
It was one of the most meaningful professional and personal experiences of my life. I’ve always valued diversity and been interested in other cultures, and after a year living and teaching in South Korea, working alongside Korean teachers and connecting with Korean students, I came away with an understanding of the culture that no book, film, or tourist trip could provide.
