Nepal is a developing country where more than 40% of the total population lives below the poverty line. Thousands of small children are deprived of educational opportunities because of social issues and the lack of schooling opportunities. Help address this problem by volunteering at understaffed and under-resourced schools, where you'll teach English. You could also work on community education projects in a variety of locations across the country. Upon arrival, you will join an orientation in Kathmandu. During this time, you will live with a host family, learn basic Nepali, and explore the Kathmandu Valley. Optional side trips such as trekking, rafting, and a jungle safari are available.

The staff... are a delight to work with.
by: Hakim KhanProgram: Volunteer Teaching in NepalGVI Nepal has been an experience of a lifetime. The staff; Tara, Sita, Anju, Roshni, Terink and all the other members are a delight to work with, they have been supportive and encouraging throughout my stay. You truly get a sense of family and fulfilment by living together with the other volunteers and working with the young students.

The calm atmosphere created by the staff, allowed us to prepare for the next days lessons with support if required and teach with confidence. It was a real pleasure to be a part of such a well designed program. I only wish I'd stayed longer.
An experience that will stay in my heart forever.
