Teaching in Italy with Greenheart Travel

Greenheart was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. I was in contact with Savannah two months before the program application even opened, and she was able to answer all of my questions (I had a LOT of them) in a very timely manner, even when I was already there in Italy. The only pre-departure feedback I would suggest is creating the connection between the host families and whoever will be living there. I was not able to get in contact with my host family until the day I met them in ...

My Italian family for life!

Not only did I gain an amazing teaching experience from this program in my little town of Pettenasco Italy, but I gained another family in the process! My host family were the kindest of people, loving, welcoming, everything I could’ve asked for and more. Living with a host family was a new experience for me; I got to try to foods, visit new places and learn a new language! I still keep in touch with the family and tend to visit in the future.

Time of my life!

I taught English in Italy, and it was truly amazing! I was submerged in so much true Italian culture. I learned the Italian language, and I was able to participate in many Italian traditions. I also had the opportunity to travel all around Italy. I was able to visit 19 different cities while I was there. I highly recommend doing this!

I chose to volunteer teach abroad for the experience of being in a classroom on the other side of learning a second language. I have studied Italian for the past four years, both at my home university and abroad, and I am very interested in how individuals learn and teach a second language, particularly English. I plan to study and work in international education in the future and I wanted a more concrete and independent experience abroad.
