The program includes registration fee, evaluation of Italian knowledge level, learning material, accommodation in a double/single room in a host family, full board (from Monday to Friday lunch provided by the school, on weekends packed lunch provided by the host family), transportation to and from the airport or train stations in Florence between 6 am and 11 pm (Supplementary €10 for one-way transportation between 11 pm and 6 am.), daily sport and leisure activities, weekend excursions to Tuscan cities and the beach.

No safeguarding of teenagers on courses

My 15 year old daughter went to this school for a week over the summer. The lessons were good as were the activities. The safeguarding however was non existent. They ask you whether your child is allowed out after 8pm, the options are yes or no. I didn't feel that I could say that she had to be in so early, but I would have liked there to be some sort of curfew monitored by the host family. All the other teenagers were out all night, going into clubs, putting themselves at risk from predatory adult men. The host families have no responsibility for this at all, you have to sign a waiver saying that it anything happens to your child, neither the school nor the host family take any responsibility at all. My child is quite sensible so she left them to it and walked home in the dark alone - very dangerous in itself in a foreign city. I have flagged to the school that it's good practice to have a safeguarding policy and highlighted that children are potentially being put at risk but they re-iterated that it's up to the parents to ensure the safety of their children and that they take no responsibility just ask you to sign a waiver. They did say that I could have said that I wanted her in for a certain time, but as I pointed out this would have meant her walking home alone. Very dangerous.
