Wild animals are illegally captured from their natural habitat in different parts of Ecuador and sold to collectors. However, most of these animals have been neglected and/or maltreated. Thus, this project aims to collaborate with rescue centers, sanctuaries, and zoos throughout the country that are hosting wildlife species—some victims of unhealthy and illegal situations, others with birth defects, and a few born in these facilities. The rescue center provides shelter to animals and, if possible, reintroduces them into the wild. However, many of the animals brought to the center or rescued from their current plight have permanent disabilities, which means they can't survive on their own in the wild.
