The summer French immersion school for teenagers has been offered every summer since 2005 by Edu-inter. Through this summer camp, hundreds of teenagers live and learn French in Quebec City. This highly international program welcomes students from more than 20 countries. Students attend French classes in the morning, from 8:30am to 11:45am. Classes are organized into seven levels, and help students develop all four communication skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students will also study grammar and phonetics.

In the afternoons, students can select from a wide variety of programs. These options are pre-selected on a week-by-week basis. Multi-activity and multi-sports programs are operated directly by the Edu-inter team. These programs offer students fun and varied activities every afternoon. Art programs and sport programs are mostly offered in collaboration with local partners and provide students with opportunities to mix with local teenagers.

Cultural activities include excursions to Montreal to visit La Ronde theme park and the Montreal Jazz Festival, LE Cirque du Soleil, the Festival de Québec, and whale-watching at Tadoussac.

1.  Councelors were quitting left and right stating working conditions were terrible.  They were very open and verbal about this to the students.  Groups were rearranged at least 3 times due to counselors quitting in 1-2 days.  One counsellor made the students intentionally late to class one morning to make a statement.
2.  No upper level class for my daughter so she went to a lower level class where she did not learn anything.
3.  Often when my daughter would speak to counselors in French they would respond to her in English impairing the immersion process.
4.  Crowded into overheated residence and buses.  Covid was contracted by many students and nothing was implemented to prevent further students from contracting virus.  Masks were available but nothing was inforced including hand washing before meals.

5.  I changed my daughter's afternoon activity from cooking (additional $700 for this program) to multi-activity and was charged an additional $200 for a late notice fee.  I sent the email thursday night for a change the following monday.  LET POINT OUT  that this is $900 extra to switch to a LOWER value program.

6.  Packing list for school came on Friday night when she was to arrive in Quebec City on Sunday.
7.  Very disorganized even though the company states they have been in business for 15 years.  After this many years with the program, one would think things should be streamlined by now.
8,  Food quality was not up to my daughter's standard.  Fresh fruit (old bananas) once during the week for one meal.  All other fruit was canned.  There was an occasional salad bar.

I sound incredibly negative writing this post but people need to be warned.  This program was NOT WHAT WE WERE LED TO BELIEVE.

This was the worst camp I've been to, I would highly not recommend not going.

On the day that I arrived my mom dropped me off. We were not told beforehand that the dorms had no AC, and that during the end of June to the beginning of July, there were typically heatwaves in Quebec. When I walked into my dorm with my mom, I felt a burst of hot air and looked around the room. A sink, two cots, a desk, and one dresser with 4 drawers for myself and my roommate to use for the next three weeks. Quickly, I learned that my roommate was from Mexico and spoke pretty good English and no French. We took the 15min bus ride to the cafeteria together, which we had to do every time with a counselor even though I was 14 and she was 15. After experiencing the awful food, I quickly tried to find a way around eating tuna pasta with some mysterious white sauce. I tried to go to the convenience store, across the way from the dorms, not even crossing a street with traffic, and they would not allow me because I was 14. After contacting my parents, who had to send an email explaining that I am allowed to walk 50 feet by myself because I live in NYC and have been able to walk alone for 3 years, I was allowed to buy food. I went to immerse myself in French and as my 'activity' during the day, I chose to play soccer. I was going into my freshman year of high school and was prepared to tryout for Varsity Soccer for my school. For the soccer kids, we were all in high school and had had French language instruction before, but we were far from fluent. We were placed in a day camp, outside of Edu-Inter, with local kids around the age of 8. Personally, this was a disappointment because I wanted to play with people my age or older in order to improve. I was not the only camper who had a poor experience here, my friends' roommate would come back to the dorm and make out with her boyfriend for hours, and would wake my friend in the middle of the night because she would walk her boyfriend to his room and forget her key. Another one of my friends got a care package sent to the camp from one of her moms, and we went to pick it up together and found that it had been opened and that some of the food had been eaten, and her letter from her mom was opened as well. However, we were able to see some singers, such as Camilla Cabeo, Shawn Mendez and the Weekend, while a music festival was in town, but our parents had to pay extra for each concert we went to.
