Bard Abroad in Berlin: Summer Theater Intensive

This rigorous four-week program explores techniques for developing and creating original theater works. It also immerses participants in cutting-edge theater/performance and the culture of Berlin. The program provides a cultural and intellectual context for the work being created, making the city the subject and creative force for this work and not simply its location. Students study various creation methods with Berlin-based artists and, under their guidance, make original theater work. They also explore the historical and contemporary richness of the city’s theatrical culture with faculty from Bard College Berlin. The work in the studio will be organized around a series of distinct themes, including space, text and composition, body, movement/choreography, sound, and image.
