The Associated Kyoto Program, Inc. (AKP) is an American nonprofit organization established in 1972. We offer an independent study abroad program that has sent more than 1,600 undergraduate students to Kyoto to study at the AKP Center at Doshisha University. With assistance from corporations and foundations, we have also arranged teaching and research fellowships in Kyoto for faculty members from US institutions. Our US Office, which serves as the administrative headquarters, is located on the campus of Pomona College in Claremont, California. The study program is sponsored by a consortium of American universities and colleges: including Bucknell University, Pomona College, Smith College, and Amherst College.
