6-week summer research placements at a major university in Edinburgh are available for psychology students interested in political, educational, and experimental psychology. Three research areas are: 1) Political Psychology - social perceptions to understanding political decision-making and leadership, and social perception of traits related to adverse childhood experiences. 2) Educational Psychology focuses on bias-based discrimination, student identity, and social justice on student performance outcomes and wellbeing. 3) Experimental Psychology focuses on cognitive adaptations and the role they play in memory, attention, and social and cultural phenomena. Applying early is encouraged, as only a limited number of spots are available.
Program Highlights
Boost your résumé with an international internship that involves full-time work hours for five days a week.
Obtain academic credit for 240 hours of research assignments, depending on university requirements.
Secure a Letter of Recommendation at the end of the program, which is available upon request.

Edinburgh is beautiful; however, it rains a lot, so bring a rain jacket. There is so much to do, so take advantage of seeing Scotland by train. There is no need for super fancy clothes; at university, everyone is very casual. The apartment felt safe, and so did the city. Public transportation is excellent, and getting around is easy. A realistic research experience

The environment was very student friendly and understanding. My supervisor gave us the opportunity to raise any concerns or things we would like to do instead when it came to tasks. Experience helped develop skills relevant to research, such as communication, statistical analysis, team work, problem solving and also created a familiarity with computer softwares such as E-prime.

I enjoyed learning about their culture and was able to experience international life! It was rewarding to work in the company and actually contribute to their projects.
