Learn Mandarin Chinese in a charming destination! Omeida Chinese Academy's Comprehensive Course package provides students with a weekly schedule of 15 to 30 lessons tailored to individual needs. Each course is taught by a professionally trained teacher in a class of no more than 2-6 students. The all-inclusive package includes accommodation with 24-hour hot water, air conditioning, heating, internet access, free use of a washing machine, and meals on weekdays. Students can arrive any week of the year and stay as long as they wish. The school also provides Visa support and optional health insurance. On this four-week language immersion program in China for students completing grades 9 – 12, take Mandarin classes each day in Beijing and immerse yourself in the city's culture and history. Then travel north to Chengde, where you have the opportunity to spend a week-long homestay with a welcoming Chinese host family. Daily Mandarin classes continue and, in the afternoons, take excursions with your Putney Student Travel group. Climb the Great Wall, meet with local high schoolers to practice your Chinese and discuss cultural differences, and learn about the history of China's last dynasty, the Manchus. Spend four days trekking across the steppes of Inner Mongolia, staying in yurts and practicing your Mandarin with Mongolian children. Head to Chengdu in southwestern China and learn to make classic Sichuan dishes. Round out your summer program with five days in Western Sichuan (with a pit stop at a Giant Panda Reserve), immersed in majestic Tibetan villages surrounded by mountain peaks. We have Intensive Chinese courses, with group classes consisting of multinational students 18 years and older, running for 15 or 24 hours per week. You can also convert 3 hours of group lessons into an hour of private lessons with a flexible schedule, from beginner to advanced levels available. Classes focus on all practical skills, including reading and writing 'Hanzi' (Chinese characters) from our teachers, who will ensure you increase familiarity with different accents.
