Marina has worked at PRIVET since 2014. She studied Media & Information in Germany. Marina likes interacting with students, since every interaction is a new way to learn more about other cultures and nations.

What inspired you to work for PRIVET?

I was inspired just by what the job entails—being able to learn more about other cultures and nations, and to show my culture and language.

Describe a typical day at work.

I answer questions and new inquiries about our Russian courses and communicate with our students via chat, email, or phone. I create posts on our Facebook and Instagram, and on our website, about news and other interestings things happening at our school.

Why do you do what you do?

I am a very communicable person and happy to meet other people and find new friends. I think this is a very good job to show people from other countries how beautiful my country and my language are!

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is real, offline communication with our students at school. Our trips together to the Baltic Sea or city tours are really exciting.

How do you use your education and international background in your current role?

I studied Media & Information in Germany. I had a lot of international experience in Germany, having stayed there 10 years. What I do now as school manager requires all the skills I gained while studying and living abroad.

What challenges do participants sometimes face?

Sometimes, though it’s their first time in Kaliningrad, our students want to get from the airport to their living place without our transfer service. But the best way is using our transfer service or a taxi service. We’ll suggest it everytime.

What are some current projects you are working on?

Our main project is our Russian school PRIVET. At the moment we are searching for new special Russian programs for our students. Usually we offer standard Russian courses offline and online. Now we have new online programs like Russian Conversation Club and Russian Reading Club.

What advice would you tell your pre-travel self?

To open your mind to new experiences and new friends, and to read some basic information about the country you’re going to visit. Also, always respect other countries, cultures, and religions.

What makes PRIVET special?

"PRIVET!" is a school of the Russian language for foreigners, where every guest who comes to learn Russian is guaranteed maximum personal attention. "PRIVET!" is the word used in Russia to greet friends! We do our best to make our student feel at home.

Why should someone choose your organization over competitors?

Language School Privet! offers a perfect combination of a high level service, absolute personal attention, and more than competitive prices. We specialize in making tailor-made arrangements to satisfy your needs while keeping prices as low as possible. Our students will be richer and learn more about Russian culture and language, and learn to have respect for other cultures and nations.

What hopes do you have for the future for your organization?

We hope to meet more offline students in the future. At the moment all students are taking Russian classes online. Last year we created new online Russian courses and it was a new experience for our school team to teach Russian online only.

What makes your organization easy to market to potential participants?

Our school was founded 2003. With 18 years teaching experience, it makes it easier for us to offer our students high quality education and additional services.

What questions do participants often ask you, and how do you typically respond?

Where is Kaliningrad? Is that Russia? Yes, Kaliningrad is Russia. Kaliningrad (before 1945 it was German Konigsberg) is a very green Russian city with a high security level. Life in Kaliningrad is substantially less expensive than in the Russian capitals. Also, Kaliningrad people speak standard Russian language without any specific local accent.

What advice do you have for individuals thinking about going abroad?

Be sure to read basic information about the country and culture you're going to visit. Also always be open to new experiences while showing respect for your host country, especially if religion is deeply tied to the culture.

What does meaningful travel mean to you?

Meaningful travel means that during a trip I get new experiences and ideas which are changing my mind and my life, and that, if possible, I meet new, interesting people and gain new perspectives.
