Internships in Kisumu, Kenya

I have always wanted to get out of my comfort zone, and Africa has been on my bucket list for a while. I decided to intern/volunteer in Kenya, I am Pre-Med Student. I did an internship through PIVS Kenya Internship, amazing organization, very friendly and staff resourceful staff. I knew about Kenya through friends. The support I received from PIVS Kenya was amazing, everything from visa, costs, flights, project, was excellent. From the first day I set foot in Kenya I was met by the PIVS Kenya staff, orientation, and the host family was fantastic, I enjoyed the warm atmosphere with the host family, I felt safe, and the meals were excellent. The project was over and above my expectations, the Hospital staff and Doctor's were helpful, I worked in several departments, observing what the Doctor's were doing, going rounds with the senior doctor's, assisting the nurses by talking to the patient's, routine check ups, community health follow up which was an eye opener. I enjoyed Kenya coz it's a English speaking country, so communication was perfect, developed in terms of infrastructure and communication, I was able to keep in touch with family and friends. I had a wondaful experience and would recommend anyone wanting to intern/volunteer to by PIVS Kenya Internship.
