Our approach is rooted in the classic backpacker strategy—get a rail pass, explore cities with various daily choices, and leave ourselves open to the spontaneous possibilities that every day brings. Our Older Teens trips are specially designed with older teens in mind. They are all about a hands-on approach to travel where we go beyond the casual tourist experience, take public transportation, and learn how life is in each place we visit. They provide a unique and carefully crafted itinerary that allows for more challenges and independence. We encourage teens on these trips to learn how to use a Eurail pass along with other handy travel skills so that they become confident and able to take on even more of the world in the future! This is one of our most popular Older Teens trips and combines a great mixture of classic European cities, mountain adventure, and Mediterranean beaches. Seamester is the educational adventure of a lifetime! For more than 40 years, we have offered unparalleled educational voyages where students spend a semester at sea sailing between islands, countries, and even continents. We design our programs to provide engaging learning experiences with real outcomes in ways that are impossible to replicate in the traditional classroom. Living as part of a close-knit team on an ocean-going vessel, our students learn fundamental lessons beyond academics: teamwork, leadership, and personal responsibility. They receive academic credit from the University of South Florida, along with PADI scuba certifications and IYT sailing certifications. Our programs are designed to inspire students to realize that it’s the journey, not the destination, that matters the most.

Our Florence program is one of Abbey Road's most popular study abroad programs for nearly twenty years running. Our students benefit from the residential living experience in the heart of Florence and 24/7 support from our program staff of professional artists, chefs, photographers, and art historians. From daily classes in Italian Language, Photography, Studio Art, Tuscan Cuisine, and Art History to activities ranging from museum visits to Top Chef, we challenge our students daily to try new interests, expand their horizons, and make the most of this exceptional summer opportunity. We give our students fresh, high-quality food from local markets. Our culinary staff members shop for our students, they conduct Tuscan cuisine workshops where students learn to make some of the Florentine delicacies. We cook together one or two nights per week, on some nights we go out for group dinners at trendy local restaurants. Some nights we have catered meals. In any case, our students eat authentic, quality food, as opposed to fast food or tourist meals. Abbey Road’s teaching method emphasizes active, hands-on learning, and cultural immersion.

Join our one-day cooking course and learn to prepare traditional Italian cuisine. Choose from various topics, including hand-made pasta, fish and seafood, meat, vegetables, rice and risotto, bread, and pizza. Of course, our chef is open to discussion and we can tailor the course based on your personal preferences and specific diet. Experience cooking in a professional kitchen with a chef. And then? Tuscany is at the heart of Italy’s rich culinary traditions, offering a diverse range of flavors—from fresh truffles and fine wines to handmade pasta and premium meats. At FCAS, we provide an immersive, hands-on culinary experience with intimate home cooking classes held four days per week (approx. 4 hours per session). Classes take place in a traditional Italian private kitchen, accommodating small groups of up to eight participants, and conclude with a shared meal. Each day, participants will have the opportunity to master 4 to 5 exquisite dishes, building a repertoire of approximately 65 delectable recipes each month. Language is not a barrier, as all classes include complimentary English interpretation (Italian-to-English translation). All of our students are either native English speakers or proficient in English as a second language. - Upon course completion, students will receive a Certificate of Attendance.
