The mission of this program is to support the women within the Arusha area who have suffered from abuse. The aim is to offer them a refuge to escape the violence, re-group, and plan for a better life. Founded to fight human trafficking and other injustices, the program has given many girls and young mothers a second chance in life and has helped hundreds of women and children. It offers a temporary residence for girls and young mothers and their babies. The program provides them with medical assistance, counseling, and advocacy. It runs educational initiatives in various subjects: mathematics, English, computer, health, and life skills. It also conducts one-year vocational training in cooking, tailoring, and entrepreneurship so they can start and run their own business after graduation. The program gives girls and women who didn’t finish their schooling a chance to finish their education. While the mothers attend school or vocational training, their children receive supervision in the daycare center or preschool, depending on their age. Hakuna Matata and a warm welcome to Tanzania! Get ready for the adventure of a lifetime as we travel into the heart of this stunning country to get a true taste of African culture and community enrichment. We will get to know the country like locals as we embark on a week-long cultural exchange with a local school for girls, participating in activities with them as we grow to learn about both ourselves and our new friends. Together with our host students, we will participate in community enrichment projects, such as spending time with children at a local orphanage and learning about sustainable farming techniques. As we head up north, we’ll learn how to live the rustic, African way of life as we spend our days in the bush viewing wild game and our nights camping under the clear, starry skies. Our encounters with local tribes will give us valuable insights into how people have existed in the area for thousands of years and the many ways that they continue to preserve their cultures today.

A Guide to Volunteering Abroad in Tanzania
Locations
Tanzania boasts an extensive array of game reserves and national parks and is surrounded by beautiful coastline with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters. Located in the far east of Africa, Tanzania is home to nearly 48 million people and numerous ethnic groups. From the largest city of Dar es Salam to the island of Zanzibar and back to the most well-known tourist hub of Arusha and everything in-between, Tanzania has no shortage of communities in need.
More than 80 percent of the population live in rural towns and the unemployment rate is not far of matching this figure too. The Arusha region is the centre of the northern Tanzania safari circuit and is home to over 1.5 million people. Although day to day life as a volunteer in Arusha city will be very hustle and bustle, you do not need to travel very far to come across the Maasai warriors, stick in hand, herding their cattle and goats or the Maasai women laced in beads and cloth making crafts in there grass thatched huts.
When seeking volunteer work in Tanzania it’s not about where to start your volunteer efforts but when. Each and every person can make a difference as a volunteer in Tanzania, whether it’s providing education or insight into a new language, showing care love and affection or providing others the inspiration to volunteer too.
